Piston Pump Motor, Discover ARO Technologies today!

A piston pump motor is the driving force behind a piston pump — a type of positive displacement pump that moves fluids using a back-and-forth motion. These motors power the piston inside the pump, pushing fluids with high pressure and precision. Piston pumps are widely used in industries such as manufacturing, lubrication, mining, and chemical processing, where accurate flow and pressure control are essential.
The main job of a piston pump motor is to convert air, hydraulic, or electric energy into mechanical movement. In air-operated models like ARO’s, compressed air moves the piston, which in turn pushes the fluid through the pump system. This makes piston pump motors highly reliable for tasks requiring consistent pressure, even with thick or abrasive materials.
Common materials used in piston pump motors include:
- Aluminum or steel housings for strength and durability
- Ceramic and PTFE components in valves for smooth, long-lasting performance
- Composite cylinders with epoxy coatings to reduce wear and prevent metal seizure
- Stainless steel or polymer seals and rods for chemical resistance and longer service life
Because they’re designed to handle high pressures and tough fluids, these motors are built with robust, low-maintenance parts.
AFX™ ARO FORCE SERIES
ARO’s AFX™ piston pump motors are designed for reliability, safety, and ease of use.
The Progressive Exhaust™ system uses a special valve shape and airflow chambers to reduce issues caused by temperature changes or icing, keeping the pump running smoothly.
The True Link Valve™ connects directly to the piston with no springs, allowing for incredibly fast changeovers—less than one-tenth of a second—while reducing energy loss. Composite cylinders with an epoxy surface protect seals from wear and avoid the seizure risks that can occur with metal parts. The motor runs without oil, saving on maintenance and reducing mess. Its long 6-inch stroke moves more fluid with each cycle and minimizes switchovers, boosting overall efficiency.
You can easily service and upgrade the system thanks to a universal valve block and lower pump connection. The compact design fits well into tight OEM setups, and built-in actuation ports allow for simple air logic control. For safety, the pump includes grounding to prevent sparks and meets ATEX standards.
An optional ball valve regulator lets you set, read, and release air pressure without extra tools, plumbing, or parts—making your system both safer and more streamlined.

N-SERIES / THUNDER SERIES MOTORS
ARO® N-Series/Thunder Series motors deliver industrial strength and performance in small, compact pump and package configurations.
Offered in 2" and 3" sizes, these motors are the perfect choice for lubrication and light-industrial applications when paired with a lower pump end. With ratios ranging from 2:1 to 50:1, the ARO N-Series/Thunder Series pumps are versatile enough to meet the requirements of the most demanding applications. These motors are ideal for facilities looking to maximize output while minimizing space and maintenance needs.
