Elastômeros termoplásticos (TPEs) vs. diafragmas de borracha de termocura

A tendência da ARO tem sido substituir os diafragmas de borracha termocurada tradicionais por elastômeros termoplásticos (TPE). Exemplos de TPE: Santoprene®, nitrilo (TPE) e Hytrel®. TPEs são fabricados usando um processo de molde por injeção de plástico, no qual a resina, ou material do diafragma, é derretida e injetada em um molde para produzir o diafragma. As vantagens deste processo são:

Testes de laboratório demonstraram:

Santoprene® teve desempenho melhor que todos os diafragmas de borracha, exceto Buna, em fluidos abrasivos leves. O diafragma Geolast teve vida útil equivalente ao do diafragma Buna e foi superior aos demais compostos de borracha. PTFE com o suporte de Santoprene® exibiu a melhor resistência a flexão de todos os diafragmas durante a série de testes.

Termocurado tradicional inclui: Buna-N (TS), EPR, Neoprene®, Viton®

Diafragmas termocurados são fabricados colocando uma camada de reforço de tecido entre duas chapas de borracha não vulcanizada (laminação). Elas são colocadas em um molde e comprimidas sob calor e pressão para ligar o vulcanite e a borracha.

Compostos termoplásticos (TPE)

Os diafragmas de elastômero termoplástico (TPE) são fabricados usando um processo de moldagem por injeção. O processo permite que a peça seja moldada na forma e na configuração exigidas do diafragma, para oferecer excelente desempenho e vida útil. As resinas de TPE usadas para fabricar os diafragmas exibem excelentes características de dimensão e tensão, eliminando o reforço de tecido. Os seguintes TPEs são usados em bombas de diafragma ARO.

Termocurado (TS)

Estes materiais são fabricados a partir da borracha natural e de aditivos artificiais para aumentar a resistência a vários fluidos. Os diafragmas são fabricados usando um processo de moldagem por compressão. Uma malha de nylon é moldada no diafragma para aumentar a resistência do composto.

PTFE

O composto artificial mais quimicamente inerte conhecido. Novo design e processamento de material do diafragma melhoraram significativamente a resistência a flexão, equivalente ou superior aos compostos de borracha. Um diafragma de suporte é usado para dar mais apoio.

**Os limites de temperatura máximos são baseados apenas no estresse mecânico. Alguns produtos químicos podem reduzir significativamente a temperatura de operação segura máxima.

Risco de explosão de solventes halogenados

Os modelos de bomba que contêm peças revestidas de alumínio não podem ser usados com 111-tricloroetileno, metileno, cloreto ou outros solventes de hidrocarboneto halogenado que reagem e explodem. Embora os fabricantes desses solventes geralmente adicionem inibidores para evitar uma reação, não há garantia de que eles evitarão uma reação em todas as condições. É necessário ter cuidado especial ao lidar com solventes reciclados ou usados, pois os inibidores muitas vezes se degradaram. Somente bombas de aço inoxidável, acetal ou PVDF devem ser usadas com esses materiais. Outros exemplos de solventes de hidrocarboneto halogenado (HHC) incluem, entre outros: Tricloroetano, cloreto de metila, tetracloreto de carbono, dicloroetileno de clorofórmio.

Não metálicos

Polipropileno – Um material multiuso, de baixo custo, que tem ampla resistência química para uso em diversas aplicações químicas.

Kynar (PVDF) – Uma resina de fluoropolímero de alto desempenho, com excelente resistência química. Usada para bombear produtos químicos agressivos a temperatura elevada. O material também tem excelentes propriedades mecânicas.

Acetal aterrável – Um material excelente para uso em aplicações de transferência de solvente. O material incorpora fibras metálicas na resina, para tornar o material condutor e eliminar o acúmulo de carga estática e a potencial descarga estática.
