Hechos interesantes:

Diafragmas de elastómeros termoplásticos (TPE) en lugar de los de caucho termofraguado

ARO ha tendido a reemplazar los diafragmas tradicionales de caucho termofraguado por diafragma de elastómeros termoplásticos (TPE). Algunos ejemplos de TPE son el Santoprene®, el nitrilo (TPE) y el Hytrel®. Los TPE se fabrican con un proceso de moldeado por inyección de plástico en el que la resina o el material del diafragma se derriten y se inyectan en un molde para crear el diafragma. Las siguientes son algunas de las ventajas de este proceso:

En ensayos de laboratorio, se demostró lo siguiente:

El Santoprene® superó a todos los diafragmas de caucho excepto los de Buna en el procesamiento de fluidos abrasivos suaves. El diafragma Geolast mostró una duración equivalente a los diafragmas de Buna y una duración superior a otros compuestos de caucho. El PTFE con el refuerzo Santoprene® mostró la mejor resistencia a la flexión entre todos los diafragmas del ensayo.

El termofraguado tradicional incluye: Buna-N (TS), EPR, Neoprene®, Viton®

Los diafragmas de materiales termofraguados se construyen laminando una capa de refuerzo de tejido entre dos láminas de caucho no vulcanizado. Estas láminas se colocan en un molde y se comprimen en presencia de calor y presión para unir y vulcanizar el caucho.

Compuestos termoplásticos (TPE)

Los diafragmas de compuestos elastoméricos termoplásticos (TPE) se fabrican mediante un proceso de moldeado por inyección. El proceso permite moldear el diafragma con la forma y la configuración necesarias para lograr un desempeño y una vida útil excepcionales. Las resinas de TPE que se utilizan para fabricar los diafragmas tienen excelentes características dimensionales y de tensión, lo que elimina la necesidad de usar un refuerzo de tejido. Las bombas de diafragma ARO utilizan los siguientes TPE.

Materiales termofraguados (TS)

Estos materiales se fabrican con caucho natural y aditivos artificiales para mejorar la resistencia a distintos fluidos. Los diafragmas se fabrican mediante un proceso de moldeado por compresión. Se incorpora un tejido de nailon al diafragma para dar mayor resistencia al compuesto.

PTFE

El PTFE es el compuesto artificial más químicamente inerte que se conoce. Los nuevos diseños de diafragmas y las nuevas técnicas de procesamiento de materiales han mejorado notablemente la resistencia a la flexión hasta alcanzar o incluso superar la de los compuestos de caucho. Se utiliza un diafragma de refuerzo para dar apoyo adicional.

**Los límites máximos de temperatura se basan solo en el esfuerzo mecánico. Ciertos productos químicos pueden reducir considerablemente la temperatura máxima de servicio seguro.

Riesgo de explosión de solventes halogenados

Los modelos de bomba que contienen piezas de aluminio en contacto con el fluido no se pueden usar con 1,1,1-tricloroetileno, cloruro de metileno ni otros solventes hidrocarbonados halogenados que reaccionan y explotan. Aunque los fabricantes de esos solventes generalmente incorporan inhibidores para evitar una reacción, no hay garantía de que estos puedan prevenir una reacción en cualquier condición. Se debe tener especial cuidado al manipular solventes reciclados o usados, dado que los inhibidores suelen estar degradados en estos solventes. Únicamente se deben usar bombas de acero inoxidable, acetal o PVDF con estos materiales. Los siguientes son algunos otros ejemplos de solventes hidrocarbonados halogenados (HHC) Incluido, pero sin limitarse, lo siguiente: tricloroetano, cloruro de metilo, tetracloruro de carbono, dicloroetileno de cloroformo.

No metálicos

Polipropileno - Un material de propósito general, de bajo costo, que tiene amplia resistencia a productos químicos, que se utiliza en una amplia variedad de aplicaciones químicas.

Kynar (PVDF) - Una resina de fluoropolímero de alta resistencia que tiene excelentes propiedades de resistencia a productos químicos. Se usa para bombear productos químicos agresivos a alta temperatura. Este material también tiene excelentes propiedades mecánicas.

Acetal apto para puesta a tierra - Un excelente material que se utiliza en aplicaciones para la transferencia de solventes. El material incorpora fibras metálicas en la resina que lo tornan conductor para eliminar la acumulación de carga electrostática que, de otro modo, podría descargarse.
